We are truly a family-run bison ranch in Michigan's upper peninsula. We operate on a farm that is adjacent to the old dairy farm that Jason grew up on. The original old farm has been empty since the early 90’s when the last dairy cows left.

In 2020 we acquired the adjacent farm to the old farmstead which was overgrown with trees and somewhat dilapidated buildings. Jason still had the old farming blood in him and wanted to revitalize the old farm. So we cleared the land, tilled the soil, and planted grass with the intention of starting a beef operation. Jason started to look into beef and came across a bison ranching article. With the health benefits and the great taste of bison meat, he was immediately sold on the bison. Now, both the old farms are back!

 

The Ruotsala Farms are now a fully operational bison ranch. We now would like to offer this great-tasting grass-fed healthy meat to others, straight off the ranch.
